1968 Tunnel Rats

I’ve heard and read many opinions on Uwe Boll’s movies, mainly to the negative sentiment. As part of my weekend movie marathon, the final movie I watched was Tunnel Rats, which didn’t stem away from that ‘negative stigma’.

Tunnel Rats is about a group of US soldiers in Vietnam arrive at base camp in the jungle. The soldiers spend the first day and night getting to know each other. The next morning they begin to explore a system of thin underground tunnels that the Viet Cong have near by. In the tunnels the US soldiers encounter dangers including booby traps and roving Viet Cong. Meanwhile on the surface the Viet Cong also attack the base. As things escalate above and below the ground soldiers for both sides are pushed to the limits of their humanity.

Tunnels Rats wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t terribly good either. I think the grusome action scenes made up for everything else, there is one memorable scene when a US soldier sticks his head out of a tunnel and is stabbed in a brutal way. Overall, I don’t know how to exactly describe this movie.. perhaps watch it when you don’t have anything else available?
