Today’s big news, well yesterday’s is that Apple publicly previewed the new version of their iPhone OS. I would say that this is the version many people have been awaiting, especially considering the new functions are things that should have been implemented from the start.
Some of the new functionality includes:
Cut, copy and paste — copy text and pictures, then paste them in any application on the device. If you change your mind about the newly pasted data, just shake to display a menu asking if you wish to undo the paste.MMS — you’ll be able to use MMS on your iPhone 3G (yes, 1st gen iPhones will not get the fortune of using MMS due to the use of a different cell radio). The new Messages application will be taking the place of the SMS app and will allow you to send voice memos and pictures to your friends.
A landscape keyboard option is now available in all iPhone applications, including the infamous Mail.app.

While most of the new features don’t make me super warm and fuzzy inside, it’s great to see Apple is finally building these functions in natively. However, at the same time it makes me wonder how developers who made similar applications available through Cydia will be effected. Some that come to mind are the developers of Clippy, which is a very good copy/paste app and SwirlyMMS, a feature rich MMS app. Then again, unless the owner has jailbroken their phone they wouldn’t have access to these applications anyway.
Engadget the lucky ducks somehow got their hands on a beta version of the 3.0 operating system and subsequently took some screen shots. The implementation of the new functions definitely looks good. Now, if only Apple would release a theme manager I wouldn’t have use for a jailbroken iPhone.

I’m a total phone noob, my knowledge in mobile-technology peaked with my last Samsung D500. Right now I’m using an old LG one which weighs like 10g or something, and has RADIO! Lol. Needless to say then that I doubt I’ll be picking up an iPhone anytime soon. Well on an unrelated note, you gotta watch this: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/20/dutch-filmmakers-whet-our-half-life-2-movie-appetite-with-superb/#continued

Yeah, soon enough your phone will be able to tell you when to eat, sleep and shit. That short film was done heaps well, effects and sound was awesome.
