Role Models

What is better than sitting down to watch a comedy movie after a rather long Friday at work to get your spirits up? Last night I decided to watch Role Models which stars Paul Rudd as Danny and Seann William Scott as Wheeler.

The general gist of the movie is two salesmen who find themselves in trouble with the law, are offered two options of either going to jail or doing 150 hours community service. Here they are tasked to be “bigger brothers” to two kids who have absent fathers, while both relationships are dysfunctional they somehow work. Towards the end both Danny and Wheeler mess up and are facing jail sentences, to which they have revelations and make amends with their “little brothers”.

The movie is full of witty and at times tasteless one liners which are good for a chuckle. This movie has plenty in deed, especially from one of the the supporting characters Ronnie who is played by Bobb’e J. Thompson. Putting the funny bits aside, the movie does take a look at the important topic of fatherhood absence, which many young children face growing up. Over all it’s a good movie to watch for a few laughs.
